The newest Daggy Man/Tom Calder Collaboration “The Recipe” is a loud, unapologetic anthem about loneliness.
An energetic, wild and passionate song about feeling like an actor in your own life - “The Recipe” is about being lost and wondering what went wrong - questioning the ideals we strive for and choices we make while inhabiting a life that doesn’t quite feel like your own.
Full of swagger and attitude, “The Recipe” hits hard from the jump and doesn’t ease up. From an artist who is making a collaboration album with himself - It should come as no surprise that this new offering is unexpected and constantly surprising - It packs a heavy punch while continuing to excite and challenge the more you pay attention.
“Contrast is at the heart of this collaborative project - The light and the dark, the loud and the quiet, the manic and the meek - It’s all about harnessing that energy and trying to capture and express those feelings and states within the music,” says Calder.
Thomas has been releasing music under a number of different monikers and band names since the beginning of his career - From Daggy Man to The Trouble With Templeton, to just recently having started releasing music under his own name. During the making of this new collection of songs, he found a rather obscure answer to a creative problem - and began making a collaborative album with himself.
“The Recipe” is out February 4TH and you can follow/subscribe to Daggy Man/Tom

lyrics
Look at me look at me
I’ve got, a suitable job now
I guess at some point soon I’ll start to feel my age.
(The bright young daughter
Calls you father)
I have to say on some Mondays that leaves me feeling strange.
(FLASHBACK)
I’m twenty six
I’m getting sick
I stretch my limit
A bitter prick
Alcoholic
I’m counting minutes.
Look at me look at me
I’ve got, a suitable job now
This guest gets less impressive every single day.
When is it supposed to be, that he’s supposed to feel like me?
(Maybe when he hits the stage)
I’m diving into the depths of my memory, to find the cancer,
I called the hotline - No answer.
I’m leaving messages every day, on the answering machine of my brain
I’m not great, I’m okay.
When is this stuff gonna feel like me?
Head down, slam a grammar hammer - follow recipe.
I tick the box, I open doors, I do my best, I pay the bill.
I educate my sorry state, I try to grow, I’m tired still
I wash the dish, I lift the lid, I give respect, I compliment
I’m never late , I’m working hard, I do the task, I save the Document
I cultivate the optimist
You’re mistaking me for someone else.
Hey man, you left me somewhere.
Did I grow up or just change?
Did I grow up or,
Did I grow up or just,
I’m cultivating positivity. I am an optimist.
I am an optimist.
